New chamber at UHG
Members of Galway Sub Aqua Club provide 24x7 emergency cover for the HMU (Hyperbaric Medicine Unit) 365 days a year as we have proudly done since the opening of the original chamber in 1976. These members have been trained as Hyperbaric Chamber Operators & Attendants by instructors from London Hyperbaric (Whipps Cross) Hospital. The chamber is used for treatment of a range of medical conditions as well as emergency treatment of divers and carbon monoxide poisoning. We also run regular 6 week treatment sessions (1 session a day, 5 days a week over 6 weeks – 30 dives in total) for Wound Care & other illnesses.
