May bank holiday - Killala

on Tue, 2012-05-08 15:02

This year we went to Killala, Co. Mayo for the May bank holiday. Two boats, sixteen divers staying in the Old Deanery holiday cottages right down by the waterside with pubs and food in walking distance. Low tide on Saturday morning meant that we weren't going to be able to launch the boats until lunchtime so people took full advantage on Friday night :)

Thanks a lot to the Killala Coast Guard unit who helped us out with storing the boats and showed us the best routes through the sandbars and tides on the charts before we set off.

John Lavelle Trophy 2010/2011

on Fri, 2012-04-13 20:27

Last Sunday, April 1st, John Sheahan was awarded the John Lavelle memorial trophy for Club Person of the Year for the 2010-2011 season.

The Trophy is awarded in recognition of a member's contribution to GSAC over the past 12 months. John was the worthy winner, continuously going above and beyond the call of duty to help further the club in many different ways. John's experience and knowledge in diving coupled with his enthusiasm and drive for the club makes him a very worthy winner of the Trophy.

Well done John and thanks again for all your hard work.
